One day in late April 2024 I got taken for a flight in a Gyrocopter and we went flying around the Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty…
On that trip we had taken the door off on my side so I had a clear view for photography and, as such, there was nothing between me and Planet Earth – with just the seatbelt holding me in! As you can imagine the view was incredible and at the end we flew a track North-West from Papamoa to Katikati. On that route we had Tauranga and Mount Maunganui on my side with – with the ever impressive Mauao in view, as it stood guard over the entrance to Tauranga Harbour.
As we drew closer I realised all the bays would be nice lined up and would make for a good photo. So I put on the zoom lens on and this is the shot I took…
